YENKO® PRESS RELEASE 4/11/22
Yenko® Continuation Cars are Available to Order Now
Tulsa, Oklahoma, April 11th, 2022 – Brand New Muscle Car is pleased to announce that the production, restoration and service of Officially Licensed Yenko® Continuation Cars will remain in the Tulsa area for years to come. The Yenko® name and brand has been synonymous with unique Chevrolet classic car performance and collectability for decades. Since the original Yenko® facility in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania ceased production in 1981 these vehicles have not been available to order. BNMC changed that back in 2018 when it announced that unique, custom-built Yenko® automobiles, which were officially licensed by General Marketing Capital, Inc. (GMCI) of Westminster, California, the owner of the Yenko® and sYc® trademarks, would be available to the public once again. Each of these limited edition, officially licensed Yenko® new build, original conversion, and classic restoration vehicles are certified in the Official Yenko® Worldwide Registry.
“Brand New Muscle Car is so honored and proud to be partnered with GMCI as a licensee to build, service and restore Official Yenko® Continuation Cars. I’m a life-long Camaro nut and Yenko® fan and nothing was more exciting than seeing the first ever all-new, all-metal 1969 Yenko® Camaro 427 S/C Continuation Car come to life as part of our MotorTrend TV series “Brand New Muscle Car: Yenko® Camaro” in 2018. The show was big hit for MotorTrend Television and the reception of the car and show by the public was simply incredible. People loved the car, especially when they saw it in person at SEMA 2018 in the Classic Industries / OER booth. We are beyond excited to keep building these amazing custom cars for customers all over the country and around the world. That’s what we do. Thinking about a cool custom build? Give us a call and let’s talk options. We build to suit.” explained, David Miller, Founder of Brand New Muscle Car.
The “Super” Camaro… The Yenko® brand is synonymous with performance, collectability, rare and valuable. When the Camaro debuted in 1967, it was an amazing car, but limited to a maximum engine size of 396 cubic inches by an internal GM rule. The legendary Yenko® Camaro featured a 450hp L72 427 ci big block engine for maximum track performance. Only 60 of these extremely rare supercars were built. In 1968 only another 64 Yenko® Super Camaros were sold. By 1969 Chevrolet created the now legendary “COPO” or Central Office Production Order special order program where dealers could order Camaros, Chevelles and Novas with 427 engines already installed. In that peak year, 38 Nova, 99 Chevelle, and 198 Camaro Yenko® Supercars were sold, 335 total, still a very small number. Today an original Yenko® is one of the rarest, most valuable, and collectible Chevrolet models in the world. For example, only 198 of the 185,528 total 1969 Camaros sold or 0.001% wore Yenko® badging. When one of these unique original cars occasionally appears at auction for sale, prices range from $250,000 to $500,000 and more.
